Cicim

One of the most important forms of Kilkitli weaving is cicim. Kilkitli weaving is one of the most common types of Anatolian weaving and produces many different kinds of kilims. These differences come in the forms of both beauty and techniques, one of the most important of which is cicim.

Cicim weaving uses threads of a few different colors, most notably red, blue, yellow, green, purple and black, applied and tighteneed between weft and warp threads. It has a colorful and attractive look to it. The main motifs that one finds are geometric shapes and plant patterns. Southern Anatolia and Western Anatolia are where the style is used most often. Eagles, evil-eye, pıtrak, hook, and dragons are also amongst the most common motifs used.
